Band Concert, Keyworth, Notts

28 November 2008

By Geoff Hallam (Secretary, Notts. Association Branch)

On the evening of the 29th November 2008 the final fundraising event by the Nottinghamshire Branch for the Colonel's Fund was held at the De la Beche Theatre in the British Geological Survey, Nicker Hill, Keyworth, Notts. The Rolls Royce (Derby) Band once again performed an excellent selection of music with a Christmas flavour which included audience participation.

During the interval an ample supply of mince pies fruit drinks were available for consumption. The attendance, whilst not quite as full as on the previous occasion, was extremely good with everyone thoroughly enjoying themselves. A Raffle was held with 3 picnic hampers filled with goodies being the prizes.

Thanks must go to the Band and our usual team of helpers who know who they are without me needing to name them Thanks. also to those members of the Branch who bought tickets and in spite of the adverse weather conditions of fog and bitter cold attended to give their support.

£500 of the money raised was donated to the Rainbows East Midlands Children's Hospice, Loughborough, in recognition of the stirring work of our graphic designer, Karen Ryall, whose daughter attends this charity unit for respite care. The remainder will go the to the Colonel's Fund.
