Beating Retreat, Pelham Place

29 June 2008

On 29 June former Grenadier Damon de Laszlo hosted a garden party raising funds for the Army Benevolent Fund and The Colonel's Fund at which the Regimental Band entertained the crowd by beating retreat.

The Band were a tremendous draw and over 400 people attended the event. A number of Americans, who were staying locally, were completely amazed by the ability of the band to march and countermarch on grass with such precision. It was a truly tremendous display with the Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire, Mary Fagan, taking the salute.

A very large thank you is owed to Mr de Laszlo and to the band for helping to raise over £2000 for the Fund.
