15 February 2017

OFFICER'S PERSONAL OCCURRENCE

1. I regret to report the death, on Friday 10th February 2017, of Captain David Horn after a long and courageously borne illness. David served for most of his career in the 1st Battalion, but also at Sandhurst where he was Company Sgt Major of Rhine Company and as Sgt Major of the Honourable Artillery Company. He was commissioned as a Late Entry Officer and served as the first Curator of the Guards Museum; his interest, diligence, passion, drive and enthusiasm were the forces behind the Museum's considerable success in those early years. David was also a member of the Pikemen and Musketeers of the Honourable Artillery Company and rose from the rank of Pikeman to Captain and therefore was the leader of that august body. He was also a keen horseman.

2. David's Funeral will take place on Tuesday 28th February at 2pm at St Mary's Church, Amport, Nr Andover, Hampshire, SP11 8BW. All are welcome to attend. 3. Family flowers only, but donations, to be split between the ABF and Riding for the Disabled, should be sent to: S & J Maddocks Independent Funeral Directors & Memorial Consultants, Station Approach, Andover SP10 3HN Tel:01264 355600.
