Funeral of 2628713 Reginald Charles Page, BEM

13 July 2016

Grenadiers,

We are very sad to have to inform you of the death of 2628713 Reginald Charles Page, who passed away on Monday 4th July 2016,  peacefully and comfortably in a care home in Lincoln shortly after his 88th birthday, to the accompaniment of Regimental music.

Reginald enlisted into the Army at the age of 17 years on the 11th March 1946. He rose through the ranks from Guardsman to Company Sergeant Major having served in Tripoli, Egypt, BAOR, Cyprus and Cyrenaica (Libya).

He was an instructor at Mons Officer Cadet School and also at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst where he was awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) in the New Years Honours List, 1964.

He was awarded the General Service Medal Cyprus Clasp and Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, as throughout his service, his confidential reports were 'Outstanding'. His final testimonial reads:

"Company Sergeant Major Page is leaving the Army after 22 years outstanding service. In that time he has served under many different Commanding Officers not only in his own Regiment, but also at Sandhurst and Mons. All had a very high opinion and outstanding memory of Company Sergeant Major Page."

"He is without a doubt one of the finest examples of all that is best in a man who has devoted himself to the service of others. I count myself fortunate to have had the privilege of serving with such a man. He has leadership and organisational ability in large measure. To these are coupled loyalty, devotion to duty and industry far above the average."

Reginald left the Regiment on 8th July 1968.

Reginald's funeral will take place on Friday 15th August at the Garrison Church, Aldershot, GU11 1QA. A family only cremation service will follow. Tea and small eats will follow the funeral service, in the Indian Army Room at Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
