DANIEL – Anthony (Tony) proud Yorkshireman died peacefully at home in exile in Ipswich 22 February 2026 aged 91. At 17 and a half Tony joined the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards. In a career spanning 5 and a half years he served in Egypt (Suez Canal Zone), Jordan, Malta, Cyprus and latterly as an instructor of the Guards Training Battalion at Chelsea Barracks, hence his ability in civilian life to bellow at staff or errant motorists who came too close to his bike. He attained the rank of sergeant before the age of 21. He was a life member of the Grenadier Association joining the Committee in 2006 and elected Hon. Chairman in 2007 and an active supporter until 2022. Much loved and admired father of Richard and grandfather to Laura and father-in-law to Sarah and of his widow Linda, his first wife Ruby having pre-deceased him in 2012. Funeral at Ipswich Crematorium 31 March 2026 1.15pm Any Donations to the Grenadier Guards Association in his memory.
