Glen Ling Memorial Walk 2026

On Sunday 16th August 2026 a team of veteran Grenadiers and Grenadier family supporters walked just under 18 miles from Bawdsey to Snape Maltings in Suffolk in memory of Glen Ling who was killed in Crossmaglen on the 21st December 1978. We remembered all three of the team killed that day which included Glen, Graham Duggan and Kevin Johnson as we laid a wreath on Glen’s grave having completed the walk.

So far we have raised some £3500 with Gift Aid for the Colonels Fund, if you would like to donate to the fund the link is above, we have had some fantastic support with donations and on the ground when we met with four of Glen’s siblings and his niece who joined us for the walk and the service at the grave side.

We should also make mention of Ken Goodall seen in the photo in blazer and brigade tie who was one of Glen’s bearer party, he is a local man to Glen’s grave at St Mary Magdalene’s in Sternfield and took it upon himself to tend to Glen’s grave and lay flowers and wreaths for many years, local Grenadiers also took this on and have paid tribute to Glen for the last 5 years, a few years back we had the great pleasure of having Rick Garmory MM join us to remember Glen, Kevin and Graham.

A great day but one with purpose to remember Glen, Graham and Kevin and raise money for the Colonels Fund.
