Horace Smith

Sgt Horace John Smith, was born on the 26th October 1926. He joined the Regiment in 1944, and served for 22 years in the 3rd Battalion, serving in Malaya ,Cyprus, Egypt and Libya. He left in 1966 to care for his ill Wife, moving from Devizes, Wiltshire to Norfolk. After her sad death, he re-married in 1977 and had two more children. He worked for General Trailers in North Walsham until he retired. Sgt Smith leaves behind a Wife ,three Sons, one Daughter, two Grand-Daughters and three Grand-Sons and will be greatly missed. Dad passed away on the 2nd August 2014 at Norfolk and Norwich hospital. He had heart failure which he kept to himself, so not to worry his family. A loyal Husband, Father, Grand-Father and proud Grenadier.
