James Madden
Sergeant James Madden, was born in Lancaster, UK on 15 April 1917, and died on 29 September 1966 in Auckland, New Zealand. He enlisted on 27 April 1936 and was discharged on 14 February 1958 after service in Europe 1944 - 1946, Malaya 1948 - 49, Egypt 1951 - 54 and Nigeria in 1956 - 57. He was a life member of the Windsor Branch of the Grenadier Guards Association from 17 January 1958. In 1958 he emigrated with his family to Auckland, New Zealand where he worked as a Warder at Mt. Eden Prison. He died at home in Te Atatu, Auckland on 29 September, 1966 at the age of 49 after a long illness. He was survived by his wife Helen and his son Raymond.
