Branch: London

Sgt Clive T. Hoy was born in Croydon on 2 September 1932. His Father, Thomas, served in the Royal Engineers in WW2 and his paternal Grandfather, George, served in the Essex Regiment during WW1. After service with the Army Cadets as a young man he joined the 3rd Battalion and served in Egypt and the Suez. After marriage he settled down to raise a family and worked in a wide variety of occupations in both the public and private sectors. Quite late in life he became a member of the London Branch of the Grenadier Guards Association, where he hoped to meet some of his old comrades. Sadly, he left this far too late and his desire for such a reunion was not fulfilled. Clive passed away peacefully at Petworth Cottage Nursing Home in West Sussex on 5 December 2016 after a hard working, but generally happy life. He had five children, fifteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren that loved him greatly. Throughout his life he remained a proud Grenadier and a man of 'exemplary character'. He is survived by four of his children, David, Irene, Linda and Theresa, as well as his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His loving wife, Hazel, who he married in October 1954 and his second Daughter, Julie, passed away in 2011 and 2012 respectively.
