It is with deep sadness to announce that Guardsman, 2627120, Leslie William Johnson born 19 December 1926, Lambeth, London passed away peacefully at his home in Dartford, Kent with his family, on Sunday 29 December 2019 aged 93. Les joined the Grenadiers during the last year of WW2 and served in the 3rd Battalion - Sgt R Ellender’s squad - and was posted to Palestine in 1945 where he remained until 1948. Upon arriving back to England and being demobbed, he met the life-long love of his life Bett, who became his wife in March 1951 and remained so for the next 68 years. Together, they brought up 4 children, Steven, Ann, Glenn and Keith. Les eventually went on to work for Porn & Dunwoody Lifts Ltd, of South East London as a carpenter before retiring in the early 1990s. Les continued his passion for photography capturing many happy moments of his family whom he loved very dearly.
