Charles Benjamin Gallant was born on 26th feb 1920 and spent his childhood in monks eleigh, Suffolk. He enlisted in the grenadier guards on 3rd august 1938 and was very proud to be accepted into king’s company, 1st battalion. He was part of the BEF and then served with the fifth battalion in North Africa including Italy and then with the Middle East force. He was discharged on 1st feb 1947 at the rank of sergeant. Medals awarded :- 1939-45 star, Africa star + 1st army clasp, Italy star, Defence medal and War medal.
