I joined the Army with Bill in September 1962. Both of us went through blood, sweat, and tears as members of Sergeant Hazell's Squad, 14th Company. Bill and I did our first Public Duty at Jimmy's (St. Jame's Palace) in March 1963. We were both members of the newly formed Number 2 Company in February 1963 at Caterham Barracks. We were also in the same Platoon in - the then called - British Guiana '63/'64. Bill was a great mate and a very smart Grenadier, who you could rely on to watch your back 24/7.
