Tribute by: Dawn Marie Robinson

Winston Spencer Gunshon is my grandfather, who sadly passed away on 12th August 2011 aged 96. His widow my grandmother Ena who is 92 told me stories when my grandad died, about his service in the Grenadier Guards. She told me that he helped a young lady off a lorry one day   and my grandad got a weeks hard labour for doing that because it was the princess who is now our Queen. Since then he has met the Queen in two of her garden parties they both attended. How he got the top of his thumb blown off and was treated by Alexander Flemming personally (nice man my grandma said), he was also one of Winston Churchil's bodyguards while in the guards. He was a lovely, kind man and always kept up to date with what was happening with the Grenadiers. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. He was a great man.
