Tributes

A tribute to my Dad, Stanley Cooper
Mrs Jeannette Shaw
August 9, 2026
Dad, I don't think there will ever be enough words to say what you meant to me, or how much I am going to miss you. You were my Dad, my family, my constant — and although you could be a very proud and disciplined man, especially after your time in the Grenadier Guards, I knew the softer side of you too. Beneath that strong exterior was a man with an enormous heart. You were incredibly kind and caring, and you always cared deeply about the people you loved. You had a fantastic sense of humour and could make us laugh, often when we needed it most. Those little moments, your stories, your sayings and your sense of fun are the things I know I will find myself remembering again and again. I was so proud to call you my Dad. You were also so proud of your family. You loved being a Grandad to Daniel and Rebecca and a Great-Grandad to Oliver and Jesse. Watching you with them created memories that I will treasure forever. They will grow up knowing how much they were loved by you and how special you were. Dad, losing you leaves a space in my life that nobody can ever fill. There will be so many times when I will want to pick up the phone, tell you something, hear your voice or share a laugh with you. I know those moments will be difficult. But I also know that I have a lifetime of memories to hold onto. I will remember your smile, your humour, your strength, your kindness and, of course, your proud and stubborn side too — because that was you, and I wouldn't change a thing. Thank you for being my Dad. Thank you for all the love, all the memories, all the laughter and everything you taught me. I hope you knew, every single day, just how much you were loved. Sleep peacefully, Dad. Once a Grenadier, always a Grenadier, I will love you forever, and I will miss you more than words can ever say. Your loving daughter, Jeannette
