R Brant
In Memory of Guardsman Dick Brant (26291), Grenadier Guards. Born in Barrow upon Humber, Lincolnshire on 21 July 1878, Dick was the beloved son of Richard and Sarah Elizabeth Brant, and the devoted husband of Clara Annie Brant of Cottingham Street, Old Goole. Answering the call to duty, he served with the prestigious Grenadier Guards during the Great War. On 16 July 1917, aged 39, Guardsman Brant passed away at the military base port of Le Havre, France, either from wounds sustained in battle or from illness contracted while on active service. He lies at rest among comrades in Ste. Marie Cemetery, Le Havre (Div. 62, Row I, Grave F. 7). His duty for King and Country done, his sacrifice is held in everlasting remembrance.
