Band Concert - Folkstone - 14 October 2022

26 September 2022

Grenadiers,

At 7.30 pm, on the evening of Friday 14 October 2022, the Band of the Grenadier Guards will perform "In Concert" at the Leas Cliff Hall in Folkestone , Kent.

The Band of the Grenadier Guards is one of the oldest and most famous military bands in the world. It has a vast and illustrious history dating back over 300 years. The Band of the Grenadier Guards continues to maintain its reputation as one of the finest military music ensembles in the British Army.

2022 is an exciting year for the Band of the Grenadier Guards with a once in a lifetime opportunity for them to provide musical support to the Platinum Jubilee Year of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. To mark this occasion, the band is performing ‘In Concert’ at a number of locations across England throughout the year – one of these being the Leas Cliff Hall, in Folkestone, Kent.

Following the death of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the "Jubilation!" concert title has been changed to "In Concert", but will still include an exciting programme of music for everyone.

The concert will also feature the Military Wives Choir Shorncliffe who are also celebrating a special year as 2022 is their 10th anniversary. The Military Wives Choirs is a network of 75 choirs in British military bases across the United Kingdom and overseas that exist to support women whose lives are impacted by their military connection.

Kindly supported by Folkestone and Hythe District Council and sponsored by The East Kent Branch of the Grenadier Guards Association, this concert will help to raise much needed money for ‘The Colonel’s Fund Grenadier Guards’, the East Kent Branch of the Grenadier Guards Association, and the Military Wives Choir Shorncliffe, all of which hold charitable status.

Captain Ben Mason, the current Director of Music, Grenadier Guards reflects that ‘throughout the history of the United Kingdom, the music of the Band of the Grenadier Guards has formed the backdrop to its national life and identity. Today, the band carries this tradition on with precision and pride, never more fervently than during this Jubilee year – which provides an eagerly awaited opportunity to experience the sight and sound of one of the world’s most renowned and iconic military bands. We are very much looking forward to it and hope our audiences are too’.

Doors open at 7 pm, concert commences 7:30 pm.

Band of the Grenadier Guards perform by kind permission of Major General C J Ghika CBE, the General Officer Commanding London District and Major General Commanding the Household Division.
