Mr Scott McCash formerly 1st Battalion and Nijmegen Company.

It is with great sadness we report the death of Mr Scott McCash from Nottingham who served in Nijmegen Company and the 1st Battalion, he joined in 2009 and left in 2014 and served in the Mortar Platoon on Op Herrick 16, our thoughts are with his family and friends at this very sad time.

We thank him for his service in our great Regiment and may he rest in peace.

The funeral of Barry Lawson will take place on Thursday 6th August 2026 at 12.40 at South West Crematorium, Hounslow Road, Hanworth, Feltham, Middlesex, TW13 5JH.

It is with great sadness we report the death of a friend to many Mr Barry Lawson who served with great distinction in the 1st and 2nd Battalions and with the 1st Guards Independent Parachute Company, he served in Number Three Company as a role model to many of us, The Close Observation Platoon South Armagh, The Recce Platoon Mech in Munster, Company Sergeant Major Support Company 2nd Battalion amongst many other achievements in his career, our thoughts are with his family and many friends at this very sad time.

It is with great sadness we report the death of Mr Laurie Jeffrey who served in the 3rd Battalion in Palestine and on the placing in suspended animation of the 3rd Bn was the Drill Sergeant 2nd Bn and completed his service as a Regimental Sergeant Major, he was for many years involved with the Aylesbury & District Branch of the Association and was the Chairman of the Branch to it’s end and is remembered with great fondness by many, our thoughts are with his family and friends at this very sad time.

We thank him for his service to our great Regiment and the Aylesbury & District Branch of the Association and may he rest in peace.

Yukon 700 2026 for the Colonels Fund

In just over 3 weeks, a team of 10 Grenadiers, including 5 wounded , will take on one of the most demanding canoe expeditions in the world: the Yukon 700.

Paddling 750km from Whitehorse to Dawson City in open canoes, they will travel unsupported through the wilds of the Yukon, facing long days, challenging conditions, exhaustion and the relentless demands of one of the planet’s great wilderness rivers.

But this expedition is about far more than distance.

It is about resilience, recovery and proving that adversity does not define a soldier. These five Grenadiers have all faced significant challenges through injury, and now they are taking on an extraordinary test of determination and teamwork.

The expedition is raising vital funds for The Colonel’s Fund Grenadier Guards, helping support serving Grenadiers, veterans and their families during times of hardship and need.

It is with great sadness we report the death of Mr John Withey who served in Number Three Company and a PTI in the first Battalion, John joined in Berlin and served through Hounslow and Munster and was fit as a fiddle he was the real life Alf Tupper the tough of the track, our thoughts are with his family and friends at this very sad time.

John lived in Tennessee and died on Friday 25th June 2026, the funeral details will of course be passed on when known even though it will take place in the USA.
